Then there are certain horses who stand apart from the rest. Unlike the band horses, these are a special breed; solo rangers. I see them roaming, never too far from the band, yet always a little removed. I wonder if they are ostracized, or if it's their chosen way. Sometimes, it's good to be alone. That's when the voices of one's heart can best be heard and understood.

Artist Isabelle Truchon brings a sensitivity to her equine art. She depicts horses in all of their vulnerability and fragility. Horses are large yet delicate animals with acute senses meant to alert them of danger or threatening situations. They live in harmony with their wild surroundings while their survival instinct drives their daily activities. The balance of life and death is delicate, they thread lightly.
