The Red Line stands for the precarious situation the wild horse herds find themselves in. Once a vital contributor to our culture, and the building of our communities, and societies, wild horses in the United States are often disregarded, stowed away in far away, desolate places. The wild horse herd of the Steens Mountain Wilderness, the Kiger mustangs, are beautiful, strong and pure, and the inspiration for this piece.
